SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT

We believe all businesses have a responsibility to implement sound ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) principles and should strive to be more sustainable in everything they do.

At Chapter Two, we are always working to reduce the impacts of our business, give back to the communities in which we operate, and incorporate the most environmentally sustainable measures in our property developments,

Our legacy will be the creation of uplifting, enduring and sustainable communities that our residents, and ultimately our own families, can be proud of for generations to come.

As at 31 January 2024 our business has:

  • Preserved more than 40,000sqm of green space and natural habitat for community and conservation of natural fauna and flora across our developments. Learn more about our protected green space here.

  • Prioritised the reuse and recycling of materials in construction wherever possible. For example, in recent land subdivision developments where we have demolished original homes and structures, we have opted to retain concrete and block work, crushed these materials onsite and re-used the materials to prepare road base infrastructure for the new development. This practice reduces the need to bring new materials onsite, thereby lowering transport requirements, avoiding pollution and fuel consumption, and reducing unnecessary waste.

  • Actively set out to purchase an adaptive re-use project, where we will convert an existing and now vacant inner city office building into residential apartments. Adaptive re-use is a form of sustainable urban renewal giving new life to existing buildings for economic, environmental, and socio-cultural benefits. Learn more about this project here.

  • Installed and provisioned for the installation of solar in all of our built-form projects in order to provide more sustainable energy to residents and building common areas.

  • Provisioned for the installation of EV chargers within our high-density apartment development Holm in Rainbow Bay, where we will also be delivering at least one EV charging station at our cost for residents use on completion. Looking longer term, we are also upgrading critical infrastructure to future-proof the development to accommodate mass EV use within the building in years to come.

  • Taken steps to becoming ‘paperless offices’ with our sales displays now completely printer free and our headquarters transitioning to paperless, with a conscious teamwide effort to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of print paper in the day to day running of our business.

  • Supported numerous charities and community organisations by providing funding, sponsorship and goods across a range of causes, including our Friends With Dignity Toy Drive, partnering with Swell to deliver disability and all-access matting as well as funds for their community event, and even arranging for the relocation and preservation of a native beehive located on one of our development sites by donating it to a local school for educational purposes. In addition to these social impacts we strive to make as a business, our Holm project’s body corporate has been structured to include an ongoing annual donation to the Rainbow Bay Surf Living nippers program, which will in turn provide necessary training and equipment for swim and surf safety.
