Green space and design before profits
A local developer looks to be bucking the trend by announcing plans to retain over 40,000 sqm of protected green space across their land development portfolio.
Development group Chapter Two has an active pipeline of nine residential land subdivision projects under construction or in planning across Brisbane.
A spokesperson for the developer said plans were in motion to leave land totalling the size of five to six football fields undeveloped in order to preserve koala habitat, native flora and fauna as well as providing dedicated parkland to the broader community.
Chapter Two’s forward focused attitude to positive community development also extends to their built-form portfolio, with the company recently outlining in a public statement their goal to put quality design ahead of profits in their flagship 12-storey Holm apartment development on the Gold Coast.
“We are always looking for ways to break the conventional mould,” the statement read.
“What could've been a handful of apartments across a couple of levels has instead become a pair of large dual-level villas with direct and secure street access. They’re essentially houses, with the benefit and convenience of resort style amenity.”
“Was this the most profitable design? Certainly not! But we'd rather forgo a few dollars to create unique and considered residential offerings for our future owners.”
“We envision and actualise communities and destinations that are as uplifting as they are enduring, with sustainability and the environment always at the forefront of our minds.”
